Makenge Basket 01

Makenge baskets are hand-woven in Zambia from boiled roots of the Makenge bush and naturally coloured with plant dyes. 

Traditionally, these baskets are given as wedding presents to new brides, to use in outdoor kitchens. They are extremely hard wearing as the roots from the Makenge bush allow for higher coils to be woven. Due to their longevity, the baskets are often passed down generations with other baskets taking on rich patina and textures from years of use. Each basket conveys messages of beauty, marriage and family. 

Stand is included and is not fixed. Please note stands may have minor imperfections.

We ship worldwide with DHL and shipping rates are calculated at checkout. International customers have the option of pre-paying duties and taxes.

Delivery for UK customers is next business day from date of dispatch.

Delivery for international customers is typically 3 - 5 days from date of dispatch.
