Lozi Container 01

This container was hand-carved from indigenous wood by the Lozi people of Zambia. A lidded bowl with a decorative handle is one of their most well known utilitarian objects and is used to store and transport food, much like a lunchbox. The lid handles are modelled into highly stylised figures, inspired by animals and forms found in the surrounding nature.

We love the simple triangular patterns of this container and the wood has developed a beautiful patina from years of use. Style as a sculptural decorative object or a soulful storage choice.
