Head Rest | Kenya
Headrests are used by many nomadic people of Eastern Africa whilst resting or sleeping. The headrest served a practical function by elevating the head off the ground during sleep, keeping them protected from dirt, insects and reptiles. Headrests were also believed to be spiritual objects that invoked dreams. They were considered very personal items and were never lent to others.
