Dogon Ladder | No.2 | Ivory Coast
DESCRIPTION
This vintage Dogon ladder comes from the Dogon people of the Ivory Coast. It is hand-carved from a single piece of indigenous wood, with carved notch details to form ladder steps. Once ready for use, the ladder would have been leant against a hut. Community members would climb the ladder to fetch grains which were stored on the hut of the roof to keep them safe from animals.
This ladder has a beautiful shine to the wood that have developed from years of use and is a natural patina. A Dogon ladder of this quality is rare to curate nowadays. Style as a structural decorative floor accessory anywhere in the home.
