Our Roots and Wings (R.W.) cap is inspired by the profound African proverb: "We desire to pass on two things to our children; the first is roots and the second is wings." At the orphan projects we support, dedicated keepers provide the deep roots of love and care, whilst structured rehabilitation programmes foster the wings of confidence required for orphans to live wild again.

Each cap features custom embroidery depicting baby elephants alongside our signature R.W. blankie detail. Blankets form a critical component of an orphaned elephant's care, comfort, and survival as they are extremely susceptible to the elements. They help provide vital body heat usually shared by a mother or herd, whilst also shielding sensitive skin from the sun. These young calves become deeply attached to their blankets; the familiarity provides an absolute sense of security, helping them self-soothe when feeling stressed or anxious—a literal safety blanket during their most vulnerable days.
