Predators 02
Our Predators collection is inspired by our partner, Big Life Foundation and their groundbreaking Predator Compensation Scheme. This crucial fund has successfully reduced the retaliatory hunting of big cats by livestock farmers by compensating them for their wildlife losses. The initiative has been an extraordinary triump, reviving once-dwindling carnivore populations.
Designed by Khayni and brought to life by George Lamiè—an Egyptian artist who runs his private studio, Maison Lamiè—each piece bridges the worlds of art and conservation.
Each ceramic piece is meticulously hand-crafted from natural clays and plasters. The big cats are drawn entirely by hand, and a manual ageing process is applied to give every piece a unique character, embracing forms that feel both ancient and immediate.
The inside of the pedestal bowl features the inspiring proverb, "If you think you are too small to make a difference, try sleeping with a mosquito." It is a sentiment we deeply share, believing whole-heartedly in the power of individuals to make a change. The design also includes a Maasai warrior and a Big Life ranger, symbolising the profound cultural transition from lion hunter to lion guardian, and highlighting the vital role Big Life has played in supporting the local community to become true stewards of their land.
