DESCRIPTION
The Bozo people, famous for their fishing are located predominantly along the Niger River in Mali and known as the ‘masters of the river’. They preserve a number of animist traditions and believe that objects, places and creatures all possess a distinct spiritual essence.
This pair of masks are hand carved from wood with brass details and represent a male and female. They would have traditionally been worn on the head during ceremonies.
