Bamileke Stool | Black Middle | Cameroon
In African culture, every person has their own seat, the bigger the seat, the higher the status of person who owns the seat. The Bamileke King of Cameroon sits on his stool during public ceremonies, the only time it is ever used and he is the only person to ever use it. All Bamileke stools are hand carved from a single piece of African hardwood. The traditional lattice design is a compliment to the earth spider, a symbol of wisdom.
