Cowrie Shell Necklace
A statement accessory in any home. An intricate sculpture handcrafted from cream coloured cowrie shells and finished with natural rope.
These tribal shell necklaces were originally used as a “Tabu”, a form of Tolia Shell Currency. They had a range of uses for the Tolai villagers, from bartering for everyday household goods, to bridal dowries, purchasing land or initiation or mourning ceremonies.
