Lozi Drum | No.5 | Zambia
This drum originates from the Lozi people of Zambia, it has been hand-carved from indigenous wood and finished with a natural leather hide. The drum has a beautiful patina and wear from years of use.
Drums have a rich history in African culture. This long drum is known as a Mwamwa or Mufula, it would have been used as a method of communication between communities, to send messages over long distances as well as announcing important ceremonies. The language of the drum is remarkable with drum beats communicating a story if known to the listener.
Style as a structural decorative floor accessory anywhere in the home.
