Lobi Stool

DESCRIPTION
This beautiful vintage stool comes from the Lobi people of Burkina Faso. Hand-carved from indigenous wood, this tripod stool is known as a "toopar" stool which is used by men in the community. A man acquires the stool as a sign of adulthood and are carried over the shoulder whilst travelling. Whilst away from home, the stool is said to protect the user from contact with hostile spirits whilst on strange ground. 

This vintage stool also has developed beautiful patina from years of use.
