Chokwe figures are among the most highly esteemed of all African figural sculptural and are icons of African art. Each figure is hand-carved from indigenous wood with intricate carving details mastered by carving skills passed down generations. Each figure depicts heroes in their stories passed down generations which tell the history of their culture and ancestors.
