Dogon Post | Mali
This vintage Dogon post comes from the Dogon people of Mali. It is hand-carved from a single piece of indigenous wood. This post would have been used as a beam in the meeting house of the village. The meeting house is built with eight posts and each post has intricate carving details, this post has an amazing carved detail of a figure below the fork detail, which represents an ancestor.
The post has developed beautiful patina and wear over time. It has carefully been restored with some metal detailing. A Dogon post of this quality is rare to curate nowadays. Style as a structural decorative floor accessory anywhere in the home.
