These vintage Hausa baskets are handmade in Nigeria. The basket is hand-woven from grass and finished with leather. The cowrie shells are delicately sewn on by hand. Cowrie shells are symbolic of wealth and the use of cowrie shells on these baskets indicates that they were used to store valuable content. 

Style as a statement basket or functional accent for any space. The basket is perfect for use as a soulful catchall or as a basket vase for a potted plant with saucer or simply on its own. Due to being handmade, no two basket will be the same.
