Hand-carved from indigenous wood, Senufo masks come from the Senufo people of the Ivory Coast. These masks are linked to each step of male initiation process, where they gain full understanding into ancestral teachings and customs. The kpeli-yh mask is worn during harvest as a signature of gratitude to their ancestors and during funerals as a way to take the spirit away from their homes and guide them to the spirit world.
