DESCRIPTION
These beautiful mask come from the Punu people of Gabon. The mask represents an idealised female face with detailed carved scarification patterns and an elaborate coiffure. They were originally used as symbolic masks during spiritual ceremonies but nowadays are used primarily to entertain audiences. Each mask is hand-carved from indigenous wood and coloured with clay and paint. Each mask may vary slightly.
